Historical Information: |
The site was selected in September 1944, and burials were brought in to this cemetery from the surrounding battlefields. A high proportion of them date from June and July 1944, when the Germans were making, in this region, their first attempts to stop the Allied advance north of Rome. There are now nearly 1,000, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these, a small number are unidentified. |
